Friday, April 7 at 10:00 am sharp saw the arrival of the Jamaica College Robotics Team for a ‘meet and greet’ at Gore Developments Limited’s offices and a mini-tour.
Led by Dimario Campbell, the team rolled up in their bus, bang on time, with all their trophies in tow and, of course, with the robot herself — yes, it’s a girl! And, they didn’t forget to bring their engineering booklet, also on display. This is the Team’s ‘Bible’ for all things robotic, which has been compiled, edited and is constantly updated by these clever young men.
Team members explained what each of their many awards represented and gave GDL’s staff a quick introduction to the robot however, “she” is currently still undergoing renovation for the next competition.
All decked out smartly in their JC uniforms, the students have done their school and all Jamaica proud by excelling in whichever competition they happen to enter. In fact, they have pitted their wits and considerable brainpower against some of the best and most well-funded American teams on each occasion.
GDL and the Gore Family Foundation are proud to have played their part in assisting the team to compete, by purchasing plane tickets for trips overseas and are more than happy to assist this brilliant and enthusiastic Jamaica College Robotics Team in all their endeavours.
The GDL staff too were delighted to have met such an outstanding group of students and to learn about and celebrate their achievements, plans for the future and just how well they have represented this island of Jamaica.
More power to the Jamaica College Robotics Team and of course, the robot!
